About the
Artist |
I attended the London College of Printing where I studied Typography and worked in Graphic Design industry in London during which time I began to draw Pen & Ink studies and paint in Water colours. My eye was always drawn towards people and faces, trying to capture expressions. Under the tuition of professional artists Phelim Donfield and Eamonn Colman of Brushstrokes Art School in Dublin I learnt a great deal about colour, drawing and techniques in all fields. Having developed some skills in Still Life, Flowers and Landscapes, I found myself drawn back to people and completed a number of portraits and commissions, which gave me the most satisfaction. The Middle Eastern and African subjects are especially stimulating for me as they are colourful and expressive. |

I continue to take classes with Phelim as it is not only very helpful in developing as an Artist but it also ensures that I devote at least some hours each week to drawing or painting. I am currently working on a collection of Dublin Street Scenes, hoping to capture moments of ordinary life in the busy capital. I have had exhibitions in 2004 and 2005 in the Theatre Gallery in New Ross where I sold a good number of pieces. I have also sold work at the People Art Exhibition this year on St. Stephen’s Green. I am also about to place some work in the Lily Gallery in Dunshaughlin, Co.Meath |
